Posted By admin On 15/04/22The Australian Government recently announced that it will introduce changes to ban gambling advertisements during live sports programs before 8.30 pm. These changes will apply on commercial television, commercial radio, subscription television, SBS and online platforms.

- The AANA Code of Ethics is the cornerstone of the advertising self-regulatory system, and is supported by advertisers, media agencies, creative agencies and media owners across Australia. It applies to any medium as per its definition.
- As a TV broadcaster, you can show alcohol ads on commercial TV and SBS TV between: 12 pm and 3 pm on school days; 8:30 pm and 5 am on any day. You can show alcohol ads during sports programs on public holidays and weekends starting from 6 pm Friday.
- More stringent restrictions on gambling advertising should be considered to protect children from being targeted by gambling operators, according to the Australian Gambling Research Centre (AGRC). AGRC Manager, Dr Rebecca Jenkinson said gambling is promoted in sport and there’s a need to learn from previous public health campaigns around.
